Hello Sir - thanks for sharing your experience with U-Verse, etc. I had my installation just 2 days ago, and am liking it so far.

A question for you though - what is your audio setup? You mention the optical digital audio out on the box, but then in a later post said you were using HDMI for both audio and sound...

I'm just about to replace my TV and would like to run HDMI to the TV but would also like to run digital audio to my home theater receiver. I'm afraid that the VIP 1216 will turn off the optical digital port if I plug in HDMI to it...

Have you run HDMI for video and optical for sound out of the VIP 1216?

Thanks very much!

God's best to you,

Hey there,

I got the URL here from your sig at the uverseusers forum. We actually live in the same neighborhood (Eagles Watch), I just moved in about a month ago. The uverse website says it's not availble for me, but it looks like you've got it hooked up for you. Seems from here (and the fact that you're running an ASA instead of the run of the mill cable/dsl router) you're somewhat technology oriented - would be cool to know others of the same ilk in the area (I'm in network security).

feel free to drop me a line via email.

Well, I guess I am another with the IP issue and an ASA. Since ATT won't help, since it is third party, could you point me in the right direction on how to get the IP assigned to the ASA?

Thank you.

Hi, I have the exact same setup as you. I have a 1242 Wireless AP and asa 5505. What did you do to get the ASA to work with Uverse? I only need Uverse for internet. No cable or phone (I have Vonage). I cloned the MAC address and I am getting an IP address on the firewall but cant ping out.

You mention that you were able to program your Logitech remote control to work with the AT%T box. I'm trying to do the same thing and I was wondering if you could let me know what the code is for the Motorola DVR (VIP 1216). Thanks.
